Wild Flowering Plants
| Myrtaceae
family Eugenia trinitatis de Candolle, Prodr. 3: 280. 1828. Lesser Antillean endemic. Small tree of northern slopes of Grande Anse Estate, Dauphin in deciduous seasonal forest/semi-evergreen forest boundary and along shady seasonal creek. Quite common in a quite small area. Martinique, St. Lucia, Grenada. In fact it has only been collected in Saint Lucia as far as I know in recent times. I had only ever found 1 fruit and 1 group of 3 flowers despite frequent trips over 13 years! However in June 2010 I found a fallen tree, the crown of which was in a sunny spot in a dry creek; it was covered in flowers. (Doubtful for Trinidad, despite name) |
