Wild Flowering Plants
| Asparagaceae family Agave sisalana Perrine, Congr. Doc. 564: 87. 1838. Lapit. Sisal. Native to Mexico. Robust stemless herb of coastal cliff. Choiseul. Yellow flowers, fruits not observed. Bulbils present. Presumably escaped from cultivation but looks different from the type seen cultivated; its smaller size and leaf colouration (blue and zebra) suggest it might be the hybrid "Agave amaniensis" Sisal is extracted from the leaves and used in local handicrafts. |
