Naturalized quite rare aquatic herb of drainage canals.
Native to northern South America and Brazil.

Also a cultivated ornamental.
It is on the "100 of the World's Worst Invasive Alien Species" list.
However it is only a nuisance species here in a few drainage canals. Were it to reach the Roseau reservoir, the consequences would be severe.
